Summary: | Chloroform extracts of air dried leaves of Coleus blumei Benth were subjected to gravity column chromatography using the gradient elution technique. The fractions were monitored using thin layer chromatography (TLC) and the spots were visualize by spraying with vanillin sulfuric. The fractions were rechromatographed until pure isolates were obtained. These isolates were tested for antimutagenicity potential by the micronucleus test. Results indicate significant decreases in MPCE for three of the isolates, yielding percent reductions ranging from 20.8% t0 56.6%. |
