Martinez, Adrianne G. Pablo, Clarence Ryan R. Sia, James Matthew M. Traffic congestion in Greater Manila is mainly caused by the increasing usage of private vehicles. There are however several mass transit systems being proposed to alleviate traffic congestion and to provide car users with an alternative mode, one of which is the LRT1 extension. According to the Department of Public Works and Highways, the alignment of the LRT1 extension would traverse from Baclaran to Niog, Cavite and will undergo construction very soon. The researchers observed that the number of private cars in several housing subdivisions selected contribute to the traffic congestion in the area with households in these subdivisions having 2 cars on the average. The objective of this study is to propose an on-demand collector vehicle that will transport homeowners from Greenheights Subdivision to the proposed Dr. A. Santos Station, and from Parkplace Village to the proposed Niog Station with approximately more than 500 households combined. The study also aims to promote public transportation, which could help lessen traffic congestion, determine the factors that affect the decision-making of the passengers on choosing a particular public transportation mode, and help lessen the volume of informal public transportation mode that contributes to the traffic congestion in the area. The researchers used a questionnaire survey method to gather data and were processed using NLOGIT software to develop mode choice models. Microsoft Excel was also used to provide charts to further elaborate the significant results of the survey. Out of the 500 samples, 368 (73%) are willing to use the proposed shared taxi in their respective subdivision. 2016-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/5872 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Choice of transportation -- Philippines -- Cavite Transportation -- Philippines -- Cavite Civil Engineering Transportation Engineering |
