Description
Summary:The study investigated the technical feasibility of producing ammonium chloride from industrial galvanizing waste. The solid industrial waste obtained was said to contain 68 percent ammonium chloride. Experimental set-up was designed utilizing the simple process of distillation for the liberation of ammonia from waste sample solution and direct neutralization for the recovery of ammonium chloride. The results of the study showed that the amount of recovery was greatly affected by the temperature in which the sample solution was subjected to. The ammonium chloride recovery rate was found to be beat at a temperature of 100C, a NaOH concentration of 4.0M and a 50 to 70 minutes heating time span.
