Description
Summary:This study explored how mental toughness or hardiness theory, which is made up of the 4Cs control, commitment, challenge and confidence predicts the coping abilities of female student athletes. 100 female athletes from different types of sport (both team and individual) and different universities in Metro Manila have been included in the study. Participants were asked to complete the following scales. The Affective Control Scale (ACS) to measure the level of control, Opennes to Diversity and Challenge Scale to measure challenge, Vealey's Sport-Confidence Inventory (TSCI) to measure the level of confidence, The Goal Orientation Scale to measure commitment, and Athletic Coping Skills that also measure coping ability but is more geared toward athletes. The results declared that control, challenge and confidence were significant to coping abilities. As for commitment it was reported not significant.
