Summary:This study examined whether there were ethnic variations in the attributions of success and failure. 240 public school students underwent an experiment that tries to find out whether there is a significant difference in the attribution of success and failure in academic related events. Pupils were asked to take a test and were asked to evaluate their performance outcomes through four attributional factors such as luck, Task difficulty, effort and ability. The hypothesis is stated as: There is a significant difference in attributions of success and failure accross ethnic groups and gender. The experiment is a 2X2X2 factorial design. The statistics used are the MANOVA, ANOVA and LSD, with a significant level of .05. Results showed that there are significant differences in Performance outcome and ethnicity with Ability as the most dominant and luck as the least dominant factor.
