Description
Summary:The antenna tracking system is used to detect the location or direction of a certain transmitting antenna. This is done by scanning all directions and seeking where the maximum signal strength is. The antenna tracking system is composed of two antennas, the sensing and the pointing antenna. After obtaining the source antenna's direction, the motor will drive the pointing antenna to that direction. And using a PID controller, the inaccurate response of the motor will be corrected. The motor commands, the optimization algorithm, data acquisition, and the PID controller are all programmed using the software MATLAB. The paper presents the development and design of the prototype and software that are designed to track the position of a source transmitter antenna. This prototype uses the Suyama Tuning method and Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm in tuning the PID controller to control the response of the motor.
