Description
Summary:The widespread use of credit by individuals and businesses has increased the number of business transactions which must be recorded, classified, and summarized. In addition, various governmental regulations have required business organizations to provide accurate accounting information in great volume and at tremendous speed. The demands placed on accountants to provide this information within a limited time require that some method, in addition to a manual system, be used to process accounting transactions. The Army Navy Club of Manila (ANC), a sports club that caters to both Philippine and American military officers, has an Accounting Department that still uses the manual system of processing transactions. Having to handle big bulks of transactions manually is a very tedious and slow process. In designing an accounting information system for ANC, the group aims to eliminate the slow manual accounting operations and the voluminous paperwork involved in its storage. The accounting system designed for ANC is a computerized accounting information system. It integrates the different accounting modules namely accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and inventory to the general ledger. Modifications in transactions are also reflected in the general ledger. The system also produces various financial reports for each module. The development of an integrated accounting information system is a great improvement in the operations of the accounting department of ANC. Accounting data are processed immediately and financial reports are prepared without delay.
