| Summary: | The experience of the youth is not easily captured its mystery and depth are often lost in definition. This reflexive documentary is an attempt to give one particular group the opportunity to represent themselves as opposed to being observed and defined by others. As reflexive documentaries are traditionally concerned with the relationship among self, process, and product, the proponents presented themselves and the product of their interaction realistically with the use of Cinema Verite' and a cut-to-cut editing format. The documentary reveals the directness, immediacy and impressions of untampered events in the everyday lives of this particular group. It presents first-hand view and experiences of eight upper middle class female Filipino La Sallian individuals about mundane to heavy issues concerning themselves and the world around them. Ultimately, their captured daily interaction with each other allows them to represent themselves as they are, an aspect of Filipino culture, the Barkada. |
