Summary: | Using the provided data, this paper identifies the profitability determinants of domestic banks in selected emerging countries, the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand, over the period form 2005 to 2012 on an annual basis. The study employs linear regression models to investigate the impact of internal/bank-specific characteristics and external characteristics/macroeconomic conditions on the bank's profits. Also to identify the key determinants of one country to another, such as some factors may be significant to one country but may not to the other country. Descriptive study will be conducted as the paper's research design. The paper uses return on average total assets (ROAA) as an indicator of profitability determinants of the banks. |
