The effects of different combinations of poultry feed on the growth of broilers.

A total of forty five one day old Cobb broilers were used to determine and compare the effects of commercial feeds and different feed combinations on the growth of broilers. Broilers were divided into 3 groups. Broilers in Group A were fed with 100 % commercial feeds, Group B was fed with 50 % commercial feed & 50 % corn grits and Group C was fed with 50 % commercial feed & 50 % rice bran. After the eight week, Group A showed the highest mean weight increase of 1787. 26g while Groups B and C had mean increase of 1354.70g and 1256.67g, respectively. Statistical analysis showed that the observed mean weight of Group A was significantly different (P<0.05) from Groups B and C. However, there was no significant difference between mean weights of Group B and C. Pure commercial feeds yielded superior results over combined commercial feeds than with corn grits or rice bran in terms of effects on the growth in weight of forty five day old broilers.
