Summary: | This study reviews the factors that affect the comfort of passengers in the major bus terminals in Baguio City. Existing terminals in Baguio City are compared to the preferences of the passengers and certain manuals to see what areas need improvement. Different bus terminals have different levels of service and the study found that the lower level of service would give passengers lower satisfaction. Improvements are needed in these terminals in order to improve the level of service, and the first step is to determine what is or are lacking in these terminals.
The data and responses of the bus users obtained through the use of survey questionnaires in the form of a likert scale and open-ended questions. Using the likert scale with a scale of 1 to 5, from least satisfied to most satisfied, respectively, the respondents were asked to rate the current bus services of the terminals based on the following criteria: (1) comfort in the bus terminals, (2) duration of travel, (3) waiting time, (4) facilities provided, (5) location of facilities, (6) comfort, (7) safety and security, and (8) overall service. The following respondents were further divided into groups regarding their trip purpose, trip origin, travel time, social class and bus terminal used.
To support the claim that the current bus services based on the design criteria was not satisfactory for each group, the researchers validate the results with the use of the analysis of variance (ANOVA) using IBM SPSS software. Results showed that not all of the designs criteria presented were significant for each group to the bus user's rating satisfaction. The selected facilities based on the responses of the bus users were recommended based on the least mean value of the eight design criteria. |
