This project aims to provide a mathematical model for crude coconut oil, correlating its thermal conductivity with viscosity and density. Each physical properties mentioned will be determined as a function of temperature by experiment. The Westphal Balance will be used for the determination of density while the Saybolt Viscosimeter will be used for viscosity. An experimental apparatus for the determination of thermal conductivity will be fabricated based on Stephen Whitaker's procedure of heat conduction. This experimental set-up assumes that convection and radiation is negligible. For the analysis of the empirical equations obtained from the results, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) will be used. The crude coconut oil that will be used comes from the Southern Integrated Oil Mill, Inc.
