Reyes, Kristian T. Uy, Geraldine Joan R. This study examined the cognitive and emotional factors that led to the discrepancy between moral judgment and moral behavior. Purposive sampling was utilized to select thirty (30) college students from De La Salle University and University of the Philippines who were 17-21 years of age. Three methods were used in gathering the data, namely, the adapted version of the Exercise in Evaluating Issues, which was used for attaining moral judgment a guide for writing narratives, which was used to look at the actual experiences and a follow up interview, which was used for extracting data regarding the cognitive and emotional factors. From the responses, three categories were formed: (a) Congruent serving the moral action (b) Congruent serving the non-moral action and (c) Non-congruent serving the non-moral action. Each of these categories was able to elicit the cognitive and emotional factors. Results show that most of the respondents were consistent with their judgment and behavior.
