Summary: | The attitudes towards the DLSU evaluation system of 628 students and 113 faculty members were selected through a cluster stratified sampling procedure were gathered and measured. A 51-item attitude scale was constructed as the primary tool for data gathering from which the scores obtained were used as an index of the respondents' favorableness of attitudes. The general mean and the moment coefficient of skewness of each group's scores were obtained so as to have a basis for saying that their attitude is favorable, neutral or unfavorable. Comparisons across sexes, year levels and colleges were also obtained for students, and differences between sexes, status and colleges were tested for the faculty. The attitude of the students (alone) was found to be favorable while the opposite holds true for the faculty. However, the attitudes of both the students and faculty taken together is unfavorable. For the students, there was no significant difference found across colleges (p .05) although differences across sexes (t .05) and year levels (F ratio = 10.329) were significant. It was found out that across year levels, it was the freshmen students only whole attitude towards the evaluation system is unfavorable. On the part of the faculty, no significant sex, status and college differences were found. Possible explanations for these were given. |
