Summary: | Janus is an icon-based functional language for children from seven to eleven years old. Janus+ extends this language to include four concurrent concepts namely, message passing, mutual exclusion, pipelining, and master and slave. The user can execute programs in concurrent based on any of these concepts. The research includes the application of concurrency/concurrent concepts to a parallel language for kids. Janus+ provides four more icons representing the four concurrent programming concepts to be taught in a hands-on method to the user. The system also provides the user an interactive help also known as selection by option. This feature is helpful for new users since it enables them to enter the next input from the list of possible entries provided by the system whenever they use the primitive functions. This serves as a guide to the user while using the Janus+ system. The system also has sample commands which show the user how the primitive functions are used. Janus+ provides a list of help topics that guides the user on how to use the system. |
