The firm specializes in industrial business contracting, a trade which operates in conditions which are frequently unstable or variable. The company specializes on steel structures like water tanks, pipes, pulleys, conveyor belts and rotor lifts. It operates in a fully equipped shop at Sucat, Paranaque and has a provincial branch in Cebu City. As mentioned earlier, the company works in conditions which are often inconsistent or variable. NIAGARA operates on a per project basis. Therefore, each project shall be confronted with a different scheme even if they undergo the same construction system flow. It can be said that no two projects have the same attributes. Moreover, the demand for their line of business is seasonal. So unlike other very stable businesses, the company finds it difficult to forecast its needs and markets. Profits and losses are not determined readily as the need for them arises. The company's lack of strict adherence towards their procedures even makes the operations more disorganized. The organization is composed of the Purchasing, Accounting, Warehousing Finance, Management and Engineering departments. Considered as the heart of NICC, the Engineering Department initiates the execution of projects and overall operations including computer services. Their computer services section is headed by the EDP Manager. The EDP Section only allows utilization of simple word processing software, equipment databases and other design calculation applications. All other services and operations are handled manually. Given this organization overview, the study team aims to develop an integrated system for NICC's construction operations. 1995-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/6602 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Computer engineering Computer design and construction Computer software Computer Sciences OS and Networks |
