A statistical analysis of the computer industry in Metro Manila: its systems, applications, and trends
Is there significant change in Metro Manila's use of computers at present (1985) as compared to that of 1980 in terms of the number of installations, the number of computer systems used, applications and languages used? To conclude on this, the researchers deemed it right to set specific object...

Chavarria, Joenedel S. Guzman, Philippe V. Murjani, Gul V. Is there significant change in Metro Manila's use of computers at present (1985) as compared to that of 1980 in terms of the number of installations, the number of computer systems used, applications and languages used? To conclude on this, the researchers deemed it right to set specific objectives, obtain and analyze data results on the three major types (microcomputers, minicomputers, mainframes) of computer systems being used by the sample population of companies in Metro Manila. The type of applications and languages used and the organizational structure of the EDP departments of the sample were likewise analyzed by the authors. The primary hypothesis was formulated in terms of the proportionalities of the number of computer systems between 1980 and 1985. Other related proportionalities were also formulated and tested for the purpose of confirming the validity of the data gathered. The researchers assumed that the trend in Metro Manila will reflect the trend in the whole country. Some of the data were obtained from the NCC EDP Survey of 1980, particularly those which concern figures from 1963 to 1980. Additional significant information were obtained from interviews conducted with a randomly selected sample of 80 organizations representing the different industries in Metro Manila. Statistical methods were used in the analysis of data. 1986-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/6612 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Computer industry Mathematical analysis Computer systems Computers -- Business use Programming (Electronic computers) Computer Sciences Programming Languages and Compilers |
