The Ultrix Command Center (UCC) is a UNIX (Ultrix) - based program that integrates selected file-based commands into a single menu-driven package. The goal in creating UCC was to create a user-interface in Ultrix. Specifically, the goal was for the proponents to code selected file-based commands and come up with their own versions of these commands. The commands, which included the undelete command, were to be integrated into one program. A help facility will come with this program. UCC's interface will be character-based. The interface will allow the user to interact with the system in two ways. One is through the menus, which can be invoked by pressing the appropriate function key. The list of function keys available to the user is given in the function key bar. The user can just press the function key and use the cursor to move to the command. The other way is through the hotkeys or shortcut keys. These are predefined keys that can be pressed instead of going into the menus. This approach will save the user a lot of time.UCC was designed with the purpose of providing beginners a way to use the Ultrix environment while they are still learning the operating system. Through a series of design, coding, debugging and testing, the proponents were able to accomplish the objectives of the project. All the commands available in UCC were written by the proponents with the help of the extensive C libraries in Ultrix. The undelete function was implemented by the proponents. A new delete function was created to facilitate the undelete function. The ability to select and unselect different files provides UCC with a limited batch processing ability. 1993-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/6637 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Computer programs Operating systems (Computers) Ultrix Command Center (UCC) File organization (Computer science) Data processing service centers List processing (Electronic computers) Computer Sciences Databases and Information Systems OS and Networks Programming Languages and Compilers |
