This project utilizes a microcontroller in order to control a Liquid Level Control System present in the Process Control Laboratory which is a closed-loop process control system. After software bootup, the system asks through a Liquid Crystal Display a user input setpoint level which are entered in an XY keypad. The microcontroller then drives an opto-isolator circuit which controls the on and off state of the water pump. Water is drawn up from a reservoir tank and fills up the upper water tank (tank 1), and when water from this tank spills out, it fills the lower tank (tank 2). The motor pump continues to fill up tank 1 until the level from the two tanks are equal which is considered as the stable state.
