Single-head multi-bit automated drilling machine for general PCB

The Single-Head Multi-Bit Automated Drilling Machine for General PCB uses an image processing software to locate drilling points with the aid of a video camera. Input to the system are etched PCB's with markings indicating the drilling points or a file containing such information. The PCB will...

The Single-Head Multi-Bit Automated Drilling Machine for General PCB uses an image processing software to locate drilling points with the aid of a video camera. Input to the system are etched PCB's with markings indicating the drilling points or a file containing such information. The PCB will be placed on a platform, driven by two (2) stepper motors that will move in the horizontal direction (i.e. either in the X or Y plane of the cartesian coordinate system). The drill head mounted on the Z arm, takes care of the vertical movement or the drilling process. The system is equipped with an automatic drill prompt which has the function of informing the user/operator when to replace the drill bit and with what size. This prototype is capable of drilling holes with a precision of 0.1 millimeter between points and maximum PCB dimensions of the size of an IBM PC/XT motherboard (13 inches X 13 inches). The drilling machine can handle a maximum of eight (8) and a minimum of three (3) drill bit sizes. 1993-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/6720 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Drilling and boring machinery--Numerical control Automatic control Imaging Systems Interface circuits
