After claiming presidency on the 9th of May and celebrating his inauguration on the 30th of June both on the year 2016, President Rodrigo Duterte promised the Filipino people the change they deserved. With hopes of completely eradicating illegal drugs in the Philippines, he immediately put his plans into action through multiple programs that supported his campaign. Since then, thousands have been killed and arrested during the war on drugs and many are victims of the extrajudicial killings (EJK). Lente is a short feature that tackles the topic of EJK since it is a socially relevant issue that needs to be addressed and given more importance to. It is set in modern Philippine society and revolves around a protagonist named Robert Tinio who is a cynical photojournalist who is tired of his job and ends up exposing himself to the EJK events. He delves deeper into the issue with the help of Jomar Sison, a pedicab driver, whom he befriends along the way.
