Description
Summary:Overhead travelling systems are one of the most significant material handling equipment in the industry. The most simple and widely used overhead travelling system is the trolley with an attached hoist. In this study, overhead modular system was constructed. It has three major parts: The I-beam rail where the trolley runs the trolley where the handling mechanism is placed and the junction which is the main mechanism that makes the system modular. This study shows the junction turns 90 connecting to any of the two perpendicular rails applying Turbo C language. The trolley then moves forward or backward in the x-y direction while the handling mechanism moves in z direction. A hoist-like handling mechanism is designed for demonstration purposes. In actual application, the modularity of the system does not restrict the working area to a rectangular or a particular path if additional rails and logic circuits are attached. The trolley and handling mechanism could move to the user's desired initial and final destination using the single board computer called Micro-G. It has a very small size so that the trolley would be free from the cable connections of a personal computer. The trolley was successfully positioned for loading and unloading.
