Description
Summary:Point-To-Point Data Transfer was a study on how to transmit data through a local area network. This was accomplished by building an algorithm that allows networking functions and applications. This is the main thrust of the thesis. Having a base program that will facilitate data transfer is very essential to future studies related to networking. To fully demonstrate the usefulness of the algorithm, a program was implemented that is capable of several functions: Chat, File Transfer and Multimedia Services. The Chat function allows two users to communicate with each other over the network via chatting (i.e. exchange of text). File transfer allows the sending of files though the network between the two connected computers and Multimedia Services give the user the ability to view image files and play sound as well as video files. The main objective of this thesis is to create the substructure program that will serve as the foundation for other studies related to network applications. Having this would ease further studies and give more flexibility to the end user by opening up time constraints thus the main focus of the study would then be greatly enhanced and augmented because of what was provided by the thesis.
