The Student Personnel Services (SPS) of De La Salle University plays an important role in complementing the academic training of its undergraduate students. By offering a wide range of co-curricular services, the SPS units contribute in the formation of well-rounded La Salle students. The study dwells on the budgeting system of the SPS units. The study is aimed at examining and analyzing current budgeting processes, identifying problem areas and developing a fully functional, tailor-made, user-friendly budgeting support system. The proposed system is centered on two major aspects of SPS budgeting: preparation and monitoring. It addresses the problem of weak internal monitoring of budget performance and the absence of budget preparation and report standards. The authors have met their objective by developing a PC-based software that could act as budgeting aid to the personnel of SPS. The software supports budget preparation and budget monitoring and the generation of reports. The software that has been developed is also equipped with features such as budget performance reviews, budget highlights, support for itemized budgets, budget reallocation, reconciliation, and consolidation. It is hoped that by effectively addressing the budgeting needs of SPS, the study can help the SPS offices improve their operations and the services they provide towards the DLSU community.
