Summary: | Samuya Food Manufacturing Inc., is a domestic corporation involved in the manufacture of peanut butter and other food products. The company is not only related with performing the operations that transform raw materials into finished goods but also with other functions such as raw materials handling which refers to the moving of the raw materials out of the warehouse and transporting work-in-process between the production department, and management and control. At present, SFMI is faced with numerous complex problems as a result of their manual-based monitoring system. The current system lacks a systematic method for data gathering and processing, resulting to a very redundant and inefficient system. Moreover, the task of record keeping is found to be a tedious and bulky logbooks and other paper materials that have to be stored and retrieved every now and then. These will eventually lead to the loss or misplacement of the important documents due to improper storage. Also, retrieving information from bulky files may lead to inconsistencies and even erroneous information due to the unavoidable weakness of humans to commit mistakes. The study group, therefore, regard these problems as a big threat to the efficiency of the management and operations of SFMI resulting to difficulties in meeting the organizational objectives of the company. It is for these reasons, that the study group must be able to achieve the goal of producing a production monitoring system program which will provide the company a better management approach especially in monitoring information, efficiency in data storage and retrieval within the production department. |
