Description
Summary:Bruise Detection in Mangoes Using Wavelet Packets is an automated system for visual inspection of bruises in mangoes. It is comprised of a camera, a computer and a stand-alone program at the core to determine the absence or the extent of a bruise (if present). It aims to address the need for automatic, objective and consistent quality evaluation because consumer preference is dictated, to a large extent, by the visual appearance of the produce hence machine vision and full-color image analysis are indispensable to the system. It offers to produce consistent classification by reducing dependence on qualitative judgment of humans doing the manual inspection and by relying more on objective evaluation of the target visual parameter. Thus, improving product quality, meeting consumer expectations and increasing the profit gain of entrepreneurs. In addition, it will make the inspection and sorting process less time-consuming and less labor cost-intensive.
