Manuel, John Harold Relova, Lorenzo L. This study is about the extent of use of computers in the civil engineering industry which involves investigations among construction companies. In this study, the current profile in computer use in terms of operations performed and software and hardware system used are to be determined then compared with the needs for computerization for different civil engineering operations being performed by construction companies. Noncongruence between the current profile of use and the current need of use will result in the determination of the reasons behind this and recommendations will be presented to satisfy those needs. In order to assess the current use of computers, the authors made use of surveys and interviews in different construction companies of categories AAA to C. Statistical sampling to represent each category were done as part of the data gathering while statistical measures of analysis were used to interpret the data gathered. As a result of this study, it has been found out that not all current profile of computer use in different engineering operations satisfy the need in that specific operation. Due to this discrepancy , it may be deducted that computers are not being extensively used in such operations. Furthermore, with this study, the reason behind this discrepancy have been identified and thus actions can be made to ease this non-extensive use of the construction companies. It has also been found out that computers are basically more extensively used for non-civil engineering operations rather than for technical civil engineering calculations. Thus these arises the need to further promote computer use in the industry and this study aims just that by making certain recommendations. 1995-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7110 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Construction industry Computers--Business use Computer systems |
