The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) consists of ten (10) countries namely: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. In 1967, the ASEAN was established with the goals of establishing cooperation and promoting regional peace and stability. The ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard was created to aid in these endeavors on the business platform. This instrument serves as a guide and a means of measuring good corporate governance. This study takes the corporate governance scores of family corporations across the ASEAN region and puts them against the corporations financial performance indicators. Through various statistical test conducted, supported by a myriad of literature and expert opinions, this study finds that there are connections between corporate governance and financial performance variables that can be observed over a period of time. |
