Lopez, Andrea Nikkole E. Sarmiento, Anna Patricia T. This study aimed to examine two variables: Trait Emotional Intelligence and Suicide Ideation as a symptom of depression. The researchers first explored the participants' Trait EI through the Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Scale, which measured the four domains of Trait EI: Optimism/Mood regulation, Appraisal of Emotions, Social Skills, and Utilization of Emotions. Each of these domains corresponded to a subscale in the SSEIS: managing Own Emotions, Perception of Emotion, Managing Others' Emotions, and Utilization of Emotion, respectively. We then observed whether or not theses measures could be predictors for suicide ideation by using the Modified Scale for Suicide Ideation to measure suicide ideation. The study gathered data from 395 participants, all of whom are 18-to 40-year old Filipinos currently residing in the Philippines and have lived here for at least 10 years as well as having a Filipino citizenship. The researchers used a quantitative research design with non-probability convenience sampling, and data was analyzed using multiple regression analysis. 2019-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7240 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Emotional intelligence -- Philippines Emotion recognition -- Philippines Depressions Suicidal behavior -- Philippines Suicide -- Philippines Psychology
