Gonzalvo, Christine K. Sta. Ana, Sharon A. The research is a descriptive study of two individual groups on empathy of Filipino fathers and mothers. The survey, both in Filipino and English was derived from the test of Gonzales (1995) and utilized to gather data for the study. Sixty participants composed of 30 fathers and 30 mothers who have at least one teenage daughter or son were allowed to take part in this study. Fathers and mothers were recorded with a high level of empathy. There was no significant difference on the level of empathy between fathers and mothers. Out of seven factors of empathy fathers scored highest in understanding and lowest in self confidence. The mother scored highest in communication and also lowest in self-confidence. Out of the three dimensions fathers were highest in the affective dimension and lowest in the communicative dimension. On the other hand, mothers were high in the cognitive dimension and also low in the communicative dimension. In order to gain further knowledge on the topic of empathy, the researchers recommended that more in-depth studies on empathy should be administered in order to bring empathy to a further understanding. 1997-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7251 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Empathy Father and child Mother and child Adolescence Interpersonal communication Parent and child Family Psychology
