Summary: | The research focused on the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry's perceptions of graduates that come from the selected higher education institutions (HEIs) and the perceived impact of the institution's best practices on employability. Based on the study's conceptual framework, the research also determined the areas of improvement in terms of curriculum, faculty, and organizations. Moreover, the research also focused on the characteristics of a highly employable graduate in accordance to the needs.
A qualitative research design was utilized to expand on the meanings of the independent variables (i.e. FMCG industry and the HEIs), the needs of the industry, the perceived best practices of the selected HEIs, and characteristics of a highly employable graduate. For the research methods, the researchers gathered data through in-depth interviews from representatives of the Career and Placement Office and FMCG representatives. After analyzing the perceptions, the best practices of the elected higher education Institutions (HEIs) indeed have an impact on the employability of the graduates that meet the needs of the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry by recruiting graduates who are 1) business minded, 2) research oriented, and 3) are project management leaders. The HEIs were able to address these through their best practices specifically through business courses, research programs, and student organizations. Finally, the following characteristics of highly employable graduate emerged: 1) business-minded 2) research-minded and 3) have emergent leadership. With this, the researchers concluded that graduates coming from the selected higher education institutions were highly employable in the FMCG industry through the best practices offered. |
