Del Espiritu Santo, Azalea G. Yu, Charizze Ann A. Work-life initiatives are strategies, programs, policies, and practices designed and adopted by organizations in the workplace in order to address the issue of quality of work and life, work-family conflict, and workplace cultures and relationships. These work-life initiatives can affect different aspects of employees, one being employee attitude, of which this research study focused on. The purpose of the paper was to determine the work-life initiatives being offered in the life insurance firms in Metro Manila, in terms of (1) flexible work arrangements, (2) leave benefits, (3) employee support schemes, and (4) health and wellness programs and to measure the impact of work-life initiatives on employee attitude in the work place, in terms of (1) job satisfaction, (2) job involvement/commitment, and (3) organizational commitment. The researchers utilized the causal descriptive research design. The data consisted of interviews with the human resource representatives of the three companies and survey questionnaire responses of their respective employees. In the analysis of survey responses, the Chi Square test of independence was used to find out if the independent variable and dependent variables have any significant relationship to each other. The following results were derived: (1) Work-life initiatives have a significant relationship with job satisfaction. (2) For job involvement/commitment, work-life initiatives have a significant relationship with tardiness and absenteeism but not of intent to quit and time lost on personal matters. (3) Work-life initiatives have a significant relationship with organizational commitment. The results that the researchers have concluded upon can be backed up by previous studies and findings such as satisfaction having a relationship with work-life balance and another between satisfaction with work-life balance and enjoyment of one's job and employees' commitment to an organization is affected by safe/security, rewards, affiliation, growth and work-life harmony. However, not all aspects of employee attitude were shown to be affected by work-life initiatives alone. The researchers recommend that for work-life initiatives to be effective when implemented, companies should determine what initiatives the employees really need so they will be able to utilize their resources more efficiently. Recommendations for future research include taking a large number of respondents for a more accurate basis of analysis, considering other factors which affect employee attitude, and using a different industry for the same study. 2010-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7260 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Employees -- Philippines -- Metro Manila -- Attitudes Organizational behavior -- Philippines -- Metro Manila Work ethic -- Philippines -- Metro Manila Quality of work life -- Philippines -- Metro Manila Work and family -- Philippines -- Metro Manila Business
