Description
Summary:WHEN THE LAUGHTER DIES, is a twenty-minute documentary dealing with the lives of inactive comedians. We have as our subjects, Adelaida Fernando (Dely Atayatayan) and Perfecto Leonsio Peck (Tugak) to represent an era of comedy and comedians that have reached their prime. The documentary begins with a recount of the start of their respective careers. We trace their beginning in bodabil, the continuation of their career during the Second World War, and even after the Liberation. Such citations shall help to establish their status as comedians, duly recognized by the industry. In the course of the video, the following insights are gained: 1. The value of being a comedian to them as shown by their financial gain and fulfillment of becoming famous and recognized as individuals who make people laugh. 2. These comedians, though inactive, do not refuse to call themselves retired. They continually see themselves as part of the industry and show an enjoyment in performing for the camera. 3. Two possible paths an actor may take after showbiz: a. Enter a different profession as Peck Pinon did when he went into painting and succeeded. b. Remain idle as Dely Atayatayan. 4. Despite the retirement , these people are not to be pitied but deserve respect and dignity due to them as veterans in the industry.
