Isolation and antimutagenicity potential of components from the Ethyl Acetate Extract of Premna odorata

The ethyl acetate extract of Premna odorata afforded three isolates. H-NMR, IR and UV spectra indicated that isolates 1 (A3) and 3 (A7) are most probably mixtures of unsaturated fatty acids, a diterpene, and a triterpene, while isolate 2 (A4) is a mixture of unsaturated fatty acids and a triacylglyc...

Description
Summary:The ethyl acetate extract of Premna odorata afforded three isolates. H-NMR, IR and UV spectra indicated that isolates 1 (A3) and 3 (A7) are most probably mixtures of unsaturated fatty acids, a diterpene, and a triterpene, while isolate 2 (A4) is a mixture of unsaturated fatty acids and a triacylglycerol. Micronucleus tests of all three isolates indicated a 100% reduction in the number of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes (MPCE) induced by Mitomycin-C. Thus, all the isolates tested are antimutagens.
