An in-depth study on the life experiences, needs and coping of Filipino househusbands

The case study aimed to describe how Filipino househusbands cope with their present situation where role reversal exists. In addition the needs, roles, and experiences of househusbands are taken into consideration to describe and determine their coping. The study used a qualitative research wherein an in-depth interview was used to gather data and a focus group discussion was conducted for data. The study included eleven househusbands. Results show that these Filipino househusbands are able to cope with regards to their financial needs by having sidelines. It also shows that in relation to their emotional needs, these househusbands cope with regard to their self and through others. Important factors in coping through self are personal characteristics and skills. Furthermore, the study showed that these househusbands are proud for being a househusband.
