Learn to earn: Solution to income unfairness

The study investigates the relationship of income inequality and educational inequality in the case of Bukidnon, Philippines for 2003. The analysis on educational inequality is extended by examining also its effect on decomposed income inequality by source and by component through nonparametric techniques. This study explores also the presence of intergenerational persistence by stratifying the sample by age-cohort and age-specific groups. It is observed that educational inequality is positively correlated t income inequality while intergenerational persistence of income is positive and present except for two generational cohorts. This implies that by increasing opportunity of education, it would induce social welfare by lessening income inequality.
