Description
Summary:LAPIS is a thesis project with the main objective of developing a hypermedia system that uses the concept pioneered by the Hypertext Abstract Machine (HAM). The proponents conducted a research regarding the problems and limitations of the traditional paper-based filing methods and hypermedia applications. The research involved data gathering from printed sources to learn more about hypermedia. Informal interviews, as well as surveys were likewise conducted with potential users. The design process involved studying an existing hypertext and hypermedia system, the Borland Languages Help Compiler and the TRACi. These applications were found to be complex and have limited application. LAPIS was therefore developed in answer to the limitations of existing systems. The proponents, however, knew that LAPIS has its own limitations, therefore, the need for enhancement is foreseen. Those enhancements, the proponents leave to future developers of hypermedia system.
