Summary:HyperTravel is a system developed using the concepts of hypertext. Its domain is the tourist information system of the Philippines. The system provides textual and graphical information about the different tourist attractions of the country. Information was organized and stored by making use of the elements of hypertext which made it possible to store and retrieve information by referential links for quick access. HyperTravel can function as a supplement to the information dissemination activities of the Department of Tourism which is currently focused on the distribution of brochures and pamphlets. It can lend a helping hand in promoting the different places of the country as an attractive tourist destination. With the speed, convenience and flexibility offered by the system, it can help the Department of Tourism provide better service to local and foreign tourists. The system was designed based on the user requirements which include understandability, reliability, efficiency, correctness and maintainability. These requirements has provided the developers with the needed information and functions that should be incorporated in the implementation of HyperTravel. HyperTravel allows users to take advantage of the substantial power of hypertext for presenting travel information which includes the combination of text and graphics easier exploration of topics and customization to individual interest.
