De Rivera, Melissa L. Siy, Edward Justine G. The study aimed to explore the effects of overseas employment on the roles and responsibilities, relationships and rituals of the family members. The researchers compared the differences in the claims of the family when they were still intact and after the departure of the spouse or parent. Interviews with 10 spouses and the eldest children of overseas Filipino workers were conducted. The results of this study showed some changes in family life that are attributable to the migration of the spouse/parent due to overseas employment. This may aid psychologists in understanding the effective coping strategies employed by these families, particularly the importance they place on communication. The information gathered provides scholarly evidence that may also serve as a guide for the decision making of prospective migrant workers. 2007-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7576 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Family Employment in foreign countries
