This was a descriptive study, employing the interview method and quota and purposive sampling. A total of 50 respondents were involved in the study. The respondents were classified into age groups: 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 and divided into with menarche and without menarche. Those with menarche were further subdivided into early menarche and late menarche. Twenty-five of the respondents had already started their menarche. Another 25 comprised the respondents for those who had not yet started. The results of the study showed that pubescent girls who were informed of the facts or circumstances surrounding menstruation had a positive reaction or neither positive nor negative reaction. The study also showed that female gender expectations were most likely influenced by the environment and that menarche had only a slight effect on the respondents regarding themselves as a female. The differences on the respondents' view of themselves as females were due to the fact that each respondents had qualities that were unique. 1995-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7639 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Femininity (Psychology) Menarche Adolescent girls Menstruation Expectations (Psychology) |
