Description
Summary:Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is an integrated circuit that is intended to be reprogrammed to the preferred application of the user once it is manufactured. In this case, the FPGA that was used in this research would be the Virtex-5 ML506 by Xilinx. Not all of the useful features and built-in components of the Virtex-5 board are fully maximized due to the complexity of developing a method to access and utilize these. The main goal of this research is to design implementable modules that would serve as a user core library that focuses on signal processing and image processing application for various functions of the Virtex-5 FPGA Board. External memory components would also be interfaced through utilizing the Static and Dynamic Random Access Memory (SRAM/DRAM) and an external keypad would be used in order to communicate with the LCD. Also, the built-in components within the FPGA board would be explored such as the AC97, LCD screen, RS232 serial communication port and ADC through creating the necessary code module for the mentioned components. Integration of the made core library modules were also done.
