The between group experimental research design was employed to test the effect of mayabang-hindi mayabang and madaldal - tahimik on impression formation. 330 high school students from Union High School and De Ocampo Memorial College participated in experiment 1. 169 students received the paragraph describing Michael, a fictitious person as mayabang while 161 students received the paragraph describing him as hindi mayabang. On the other hand, 233 high school students from the same schools participated in experiment 2. The paragraph with the madaldal trait was given to 115 subjects while the paragraph with the tahimik trait was given to 118 subjects. After reading the paragraph, subjects answered a self-constructed rating scale questionnaire to measure their impression on Michael. T-test for independent sample was utilized at =.01. Results of both experiments show a significant difference in the overall impression rating but when further tested, madaldal and tahimik did not comply with the assumption that a change in the central trait will change the satellite traits attached to it. Thus, mayabang and hindi mayabang are possible central traits while madaldal and tahimik are more peripheral than possible central traits. 1993-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7660 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Filipino personality High school students Personality Boastfulness Shyness |
