Description
Summary:The limited studies on Local Government Units called for a standard measurement of their financial performance. In a comparative study on the financial performance of the City Governments of Marikina and Antipolo from 2002 to 2006, the group explored Ken Brown's 10 financial performance ratios' applicability and assessment to the Philippine setting. Both City Governments either improved or declined in their financial performance. Marikina performed better in 8 out of 10 ratios than Antipolo. Brown's ratios are appropriate in the local setting. Recommendations for further researches in this new area of study include covering more local or foreign City Governments. Another would be a follow up on the performances of the two city governments for the next 5 years.
