The different support media were employed, namely, activated carbon granules and polyurethane materials. Effects of variations in volumetric gas flowrate, size and weight concentration of solid particles were considered in the study. Effectiveness of the reactor is based on three important parameters:reduction in BOD,reduction in COD, and amount of total suspended solids. The changes of some physical properties of the wastewater such as color and its odor were observed as well as daily monitoring of pH. Utilization of 150 mL polyurethane materials and 16,900 mL/min gas flowrate at five-day retention time gave a 53.57 percent COD reduction and 75.87 percent BOD reduction.
