Corrosion detection of concrete mixed with fly ash and seawater measured through ultrasonic pulse velocity
Corrosion is one of the common problems when it comes to reinforced concrete structures. It develops over time and prolonged exposure to aggressive environments. Another problem is the source of freshwater becoming scarce due to its limited resource, rapid population increase and pollution. Another...

It develops over time and prolonged exposure to aggressive environments. Another problem is the source of freshwater becoming scarce due to its limited resource, rapid population increase and pollution. Another problem is the storage of waste materials with fly ash being one of them. In this study, fly ash was used as a partial replacement for cement because of cementitious property while the seawater was used as mixing and curing water. The concrete columns were subjected to UPV to determine the effects of fly ash and seawater against corrosion. The concrete columns were tested after being cured for 28th day, 35th day and 49th day. To check the significance of the test results, t-test and ANOVA tests were used. The results of the UPV tests for concrete columns shows that fly ash was able to decrease the corrosion rate. Mixing and curing in seawater has shown an increase in the corrosion rate of the reinforced concrete columns. However, fly ash lessens the corrosive effects of seawater in the concrete. 2018-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7737 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Fly ash Reinforced concrete Building materials |

Corrosion is one of the common problems when it comes to reinforced concrete structures. It develops over time and prolonged exposure to aggressive environments. Another problem is the source of freshwater becoming scarce due to its limited resource, rapid population increase and pollution. Another problem is the storage of waste materials with fly ash being one of them.
