Comparison of friendship satisfaction among adolescents in online and offline settings

This study aimed to identify if there is a difference in the degree of satisfaction between online and offline friends among adolescents. Sex differences in the ratings of friendship satisfaction for the two types of friendships were also tried to be identified. One hundred fifty (150) respondents (75 males and 75 females) were each asked to answer the CLR Friendship Satisfaction Scale twice to determine their satisfaction both for their closest online and offline friend. Results show that there is a significant difference in the ratings of friendship satisfaction between online and offline settings. However, upon comparing satisfaction in online and offline friendships separately for both sexes, there were no significant differences were found.
