Summary:A preliminary study on the taxonomy of marine gastropod shells found in Cabalitian Island, Sual, Pangasinan was conducted during the months of October and November 1991. Fifty-four species of marine gastropod shells were collected and classified belonging to subclass Prosobranchia (Streptoneura) order Archeogastropoda and Mesogatropoda superfamilies Patellacea, Trochacea, Neritadea, Cerithiacea, Strombacea, Cypraeacea, Naticidae and Tonnacea family Acmaeidae, Trochidae, Angariidae, Turbinidae, Neritidae, Cypreaidae, Naticidae, Cassidae, Ficidae, Cymatiidae and Bursidae and twenty-four genera. The collection site was the littoral area of 100 meters along the shoreline and around 50 to 60 feet from the shoreline towards the sea. The site was generally shallow, muddy and rocky substratum.
