The film, Laya, follows the story of Aning, a young man who's living life a new after leaving his province to be in the urban jungle of Metro Manila. The new slate of his life opens him to a world of infinite chances and realities that breed him into a new identity, one that allows him to breathe in freedom and liberation. Along the way, Aning discovers love. His love affair with a younger boy, Jordan, breaks the boundaries and stereotypes of a homosexual relationship which comes to Aning's own surprise. They find themselves in a realm of genuine love, a love that binds Aning to finding joy in his selflessness. The thesis will highlight the issue of sexual identity and the image of gays in the Philippine context. The present thesis theorizes the cinematic perception and invokes the effects of dying as an immediate and visceral reminder of our limited time. 2016-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7820 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Gay men--Philippines--Drama Selflessness (Psychology)--Drama Short films--Philippines Communication
