The film, Laya, follows the story of Aning, a young man who's living life a new after leaving his province to be in the urban jungle of Metro Manila. The new slate of his life opens him to a world of infinite chances and realities that breed him into a new identity, one that allows him to breathe in freedom and liberation. Along the way, Aning discovers love. His love affair with a younger boy, Jordan, breaks the boundaries and stereotypes of a homosexual relationship which comes to Aning's own surprise. They find themselves in a realm of genuine love, a love that binds Aning to finding joy in his selflessness. The thesis will highlight the issue of sexual identity and the image of gays in the Philippine context.
