Description
Summary:The current study dealt with the relationship between the self-concept of outstanding Filipino gay men and the attitudes of their co-workers towards them and how these two factors affected the process through which the gay man achieved his status of being outstanding. The attributions that the gay man believed have led to his success also provided additional information in understanding the outstanding Filipino gay man. The multi-method approach employed in the study indicated that the gay men often believe that they have good self-concept but their co-workers rating of the outstanding Filipino gay man's self-concept is significantly higher, although negative attitudes towards homosexuals appeared to be present. This study further indicated that the success of outstanding Filipino gay men is an interplay between internal and external factors.
