Ilumin, Maureen Ann F. Mallillin, Angela G. Quadro International, Inc. is a Japanese owned manufacturing and exporting organization that is located in Tunasan, Muntinlupa City. It has three independent division units, which include the Baseball gloves and mitts, Bags, and Lacrosse gloves. The Lacrosse Division includes the Lacrosse Gloves Production Line (LGPL), which is the system under study. There are seven effective working months for LGPL, specifically from April to October only of each year. The company experienced an average labor productivity that is 67 pairs below the 268 pairs per day target set at the beginning of the year for the production period of April to October 2005, that amounted to an average monthly opportunity loss of Php960,519.21. After the evaluation of the probable causes, several factors were found to cause the low productivity of the system which are the following: Reject Rate, Changeover down time, Lack of skills of workers and the Excess in the Effective Working Schedule. The proposed solutions to improve system was composed of New Skills Training Program, Requiring applicants to have a background on sewing, Introduction of Policies on Rejects, Having another worker prepare the thread to be placed in the bobbin and Reducing the Batch Size from its current 40 pairs per batch to 12 per batch. The computed net present value of the proposed solution is Php17,330,927.38 while the Php26,775 investment made is retrievable in 0.007747 years or 0.0929 months. Given these values, it shows that the proposed solutions for the main problem on labor productivity are feasible to implement. Finally, when it comes to the implementation period, based on the Gantt chart that was constructed, these solutions can be applied within approximately three months. 2006-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_bachelors/7852 Bachelor's Theses English Animo Repository Glove industry--Philippines Production management Engineering
